2026 Autumn Cashmere Sweater OEM Order Cutoff: Last Booking Dates for Q4 & Holiday Delivery
Every September, the same email lands in our inbox from buyers across the EU, US, and Japan: “We need 800 cashmere sweaters in our warehouse by November 20th for Black Friday and holiday pre-orders. Can you still take the order?” The honest answer is sometimes yes, sometimes no — and the difference comes down to a single number: how many weeks of production are actually left between today and your required delivery date.
This guide publishes the final order cutoff dates for autumn 2026 production at our Ordos factory, broken down by product type, MOQ, and decoration complexity. If you are sourcing private-label cashmere sweaters, cardigans, or knit accessories for Q4 2026 / Holiday 2026 / early Q1 2027 delivery, the dates below tell you whether your order is still feasible — and what trade-offs you will face if you book late.
Why Cutoff Dates Exist in Cashmere OEM
Unlike polyester or cotton knitwear, cashmere production is constrained by a hard biological clock. The dehairing season in Inner Mongolia runs from April to June; by September, the raw material for the year is already allocated to yarn spinners and we are deep into the dyeing-spinning-knitting pipeline. Once our knitting lines, dyeing vats, and finishing capacity are booked, adding more orders means displacing existing customers — which is something we will not do.
This is why every autumn we publish cutoff dates publicly. Buyers who book before the cutoff get:
- Confirmed production slot on the knitting line.
- Yarn allocation from our 2026 dehairing pool.
- Realistic shipping windows to EU/US/JP ports.
- No expedite surcharge (late orders after the cutoff face 15-25% expedite fees, if capacity exists at all).
Buyers who book after the cutoff either pay a premium for line re-scheduling, simplify the garment to fit a shorter window, or wait for Q1 2027 production.
2026 Autumn Cutoff Calendar (Ordos Factory, GMT+8)
All dates below are order confirmation dates (PO signed + deposit received), not inquiry dates. Production starts within 3 business days of confirmation.

Important: Above cutoff dates assume the buyer has already approved a pre-production sample (or accepts our standard fit block + stock yarn). New design development (tech pack from scratch + multiple sample rounds) adds 3-5 weeks and is not feasible for Q4 2026 delivery regardless of cutoff.
How to Read These Cutoffs Against Your Target Delivery Date
The cutoff table tells you the earliest ex-works date, but your actual delivery date is ex-works + shipping + customs clearance + inland transport. Typical shipping windows from our Ordos factory:
- To EU (Hamburg/Rotterdam): 28-35 days by sea, plus 5-10 days customs + inland.
- To US West Coast (Long Beach): 18-25 days by sea, plus 5-10 days customs + inland.
- To US East Coast (NY/NJ): 30-38 days by sea, plus 5-10 days customs + inland.
- To Japan (Yokohama): 8-12 days by sea, plus 3-5 days customs + inland.
Worked example: A US East Coast buyer wants sweaters in their warehouse by 2026-11-20 for Black Friday. They need:
- Ex-works by 2026-10-25 (subtract 30 days shipping + 5 days buffer).
- That maps to the 2026-09-15 cutoff for custom-dyed complex stitch, or 2026-09-25 cutoff for custom-dyed plain knit.
- If today is 2026-09-16, the custom-dyed complex-stitch order is already past cutoff; the plain-knit order has 9 days left.
What Happens If You Miss the Cutoff
Three options, in order of cost:
Option 1: Expedite with Surcharge (Capacity Available)
If we have a partial gap on the knitting line — for example, a buyer cancelled or downsized — we can slot in late orders with a 15-25% expedite surcharge. This surcharge covers overtime labor, shifted yarn allocation, and the risk premium. Typical expedite windows:
- 1-2 weeks past cutoff: 15% surcharge, ex-works delayed by 7-10 days.
- 3-4 weeks past cutoff: 20-25% surcharge, ex-works delayed by 14-21 days.
Availability is by inquiry only. Do not assume capacity exists.
Option 2: Simplify the Garment
Strip out the bottleneck step. Common simplifications:
- Custom yarn → stock yarn: saves 2-3 weeks. You accept our standard color card (currently 42 stock colors).
- Complex stitch → plain knit: saves 1-2 weeks. Loses design differentiation but gains speed.
- Embroidery/print after knitting instead of in-knit: saves 1 week. Acceptable for chest logos, not allover patterns.
- Custom labels → stock labels with sticker overlay: saves 3-5 days. Common for sub-300 pc trial orders.
Option 3: Move to Q1 2027 Production
If the order cannot realistically hit Q4 2026, we will quote for Q1 2027 production (ex-works January-February 2027). This is the default for new design development and orders that need full custom yarn + complex stitch + custom trims. Q1 2027 slots open for booking on 2026-10-15.
Capacity by Yarn and MOQ (September 2026 Snapshot)
Current line availability as of 2026-09-16:
- 2/26nm stock yarn (mid-gauge, most common sweater weight): 45% booked, accepting orders through October 15.
- 2/48nm stock yarn (fine-gauge, luxury hand-feel): 70% booked, accepting orders through October 5.
- 2/60nm stock yarn (ultra-fine, premium tier): 85% booked, accepting orders through September 25.
- Custom dyeing capacity (Pantone match, 50kg+ MOQ): 60% booked, accepting orders through September 25.
- Embroidery line (chest logo, allover pattern): 55% booked, accepting orders through October 10.
- Hand-finishing / linking (seamless linking, hand-sewn trims): 75% booked, accepting orders through September 30.
These percentages update weekly. For an exact snapshot tied to your specific SKU, send the spec sheet and we will confirm within 24 hours.
Practical Steps If You Are Booking Today
- Send your spec sheet (silhouette + measurement spec + yarn preference + quantity + target ex-works date). Email or WhatsApp both work; we respond within one business day.
- Confirm yarn path: stock yarn vs custom dye. This is the single biggest factor in your cutoff.
- Approve sample or skip it: if you accept stock yarn + our standard fit block, sample can be skipped for plain-knit orders. Complex stitch or new silhouette always needs sample approval — add 2-3 weeks.
- Sign PO + deposit: 30% deposit locks the production slot. We do not hold slots on verbal agreement.
- Lock ex-works date: confirmed at PO signing. We will not move it later without your written approval.
When the Cutoff Is Already Passed
If you are reading this in late October or November and need holiday delivery, the honest path is:
- Small quantity (under 200 pcs) + simple knit: we may have leftover stock-supported capacity. Inquire.
- Mid quantity (200-500 pcs) + custom dye: not feasible for 2026. Move to Q1 2027.
- Any quantity + new design development: not feasible for 2026. Move to Q1 2027 and use the time to develop the full collection properly.
The most expensive mistake late-booking buyers make is forcing a complex custom order into an impossible window. It always ends in air-shipment costs, missed retail dates, or quality compromises. Better to defer to Q1 2027 with a clean production slot than to ship a half-finished holiday collection.
