Wholesale Cashmere Shawl with Custom Logo: A B2B Guide to Woven Labels, Hangtags & MOQ

Wholesale Cashmere Shawl with Custom Logo: B2B Guide

A cashmere shawl with your brand’s logo is one of the highest-margin private label products you can sell. Retail prices of $150-500 per piece are common, and the production cost is reasonable.

The challenge: getting the logo right. Cashmere is a delicate fiber, and most logo techniques used on cotton or wool don’t work on cashmere. This guide covers what works.

4 logo techniques for cashmere

1. Woven labels (most common)

A woven label is a small fabric tag (typically 1.5-2 inches wide, 0.5-1 inch tall) with your brand name and logo, sewn into the seam of the shawl.

How it works: Factory weaves the label separately (using your brand’s logo and Pantone colors), then sews it into the shawl during finishing.

Pros:

  • Looks premium (matches the cashmere quality)
  • Durable (lasts the lifetime of the shawl)
  • Doesn’t damage the cashmere fiber

Cons:

  • Setup cost $50-200 per design (loom programming)
  • Per-unit cost $0.10-0.30
  • 3-4 week lead time for label production

Best for: Brand labels, size labels, country-of-origin labels

2. Printed labels

A printed label is similar to a woven label but printed on satin or cotton tape, then sewn in.

Pros:

  • Lower setup cost ($30-100)
  • Faster production (1-2 weeks)
  • Works well for small text and detailed logos

Cons:

  • Less premium feel (printed vs woven)
  • Can fade over years of washing
  • Less crisp than woven for complex designs

Best for: Care labels, size labels, secondary branding

3. Embroidered logos (direct)

A direct embroidery puts your logo right on the cashmere fabric — typically in a corner of the shawl.

Pros:

  • No label visible from the outside (cleaner aesthetic)
  • Premium feel
  • Long-lasting

Cons:

  • Can damage cashmere if the backing is too stiff or stitching too dense
  • More expensive ($1-3 per unit)
  • Limited size (small logo only)

Best for: High-end brands with simple monogram logos

4. Woven logo on the shawl itself (most premium)

For ultra-luxury brands, the logo can be woven directly into the shawl’s pattern during production.

Pros:

  • No label at all
  • Most premium look
  • Logo won’t peel or fade

Cons:

  • Very high setup cost ($1,000-3,000 per design)
  • 8-12 week lead time
  • Only works for repeating patterns (not standalone logos)

Best for: Established luxury brands with 1,000+ unit annual volume

Hangtag + packaging essentials

Beyond the label, a wholesale cashmere shawl needs:

Hangtag

  • Standard size: 2” x 3.5” (US) or 5cm x 9cm (EU)
  • Material: 300-400gsm cardstock with soft-touch or matte lamination
  • Information: brand name, country of origin, fiber content, care instructions
  • String: cotton or natural fiber cord (not plastic)
  • Cost: $0.15-0.40 per tag, setup $50-150

Care label (required by law in most markets)

  • Fiber content (e.g., “100% Cashmere”)
  • Country of origin (e.g., “Made in China”)
  • Care instructions (dry clean, hand wash, etc.)
  • Size (if applicable)

Outer packaging

  • Polybag: clear LDPE, resealable zipper
  • Gift box: 300-400gsm rigid box with ribbon (for premium SKUs)
  • Tissue paper: acid-free, custom printed (optional)

For B2B wholesale, most buyers skip the gift box (retailers add their own packaging). But a custom polybag with your brand logo is table stakes.

For small MOQ orders (30-50 shawls), you can either:

  1. Use stock labels from a third-party supplier (shorter lead time, but generic)
  2. Split MOQ costs with another small brand
  3. Absorb setup cost into your per-unit price

Send the factory:

  1. Logo file in vector format (AI, EPS, or SVG). Raster (PNG, JPG) at 300+ DPI also works but less crisp.
  2. Pantone colors for the logo (not just RGB or CMYK). If you don’t have Pantone, give a physical sample.
  3. Label placement — sewn at corner, center back, or hidden. Most shawls have a small label at one corner.
  4. Label size — typically 1.5” x 0.75” (3.8cm x 1.9cm).
  5. Fold or cut — woven labels are usually center-fold; printed labels are usually cut and sewn flat.

The factory will create a digital mockup within 3-5 days. Approve the mockup, then the factory produces a physical sample of the label within 2-3 weeks.

Always approve a physical sample before bulk production. A digital mockup looks great on screen but the woven fabric can look very different in person.

5 common mistakes to avoid

  1. Logo too small to read: A logo under 1cm tall is invisible from a distance. Aim for 1.5-2cm.
  2. Using the wrong thread count: Too few threads and the logo looks pixelated; too many and the label is stiff.
  3. Wrong label placement: Labels in awkward positions (like the center of a shawl) hurt the product. Corners are standard.
  4. Mixing label types: Using a woven brand label but a printed care label looks inconsistent. Match the aesthetic.
  5. Forgetting country-of-origin: Most markets (US, EU) legally require country-of-origin on every imported textile. Missing this can result in customs seizure.

We handle the full custom logo process for cashmere shawls and scarves:

  • Sample woven label: 5-7 days, $80-150 (refundable against bulk order)
  • Bulk production: 35-45 days including label manufacturing
  • MOQ: 100 shawls per style with custom logo (lower MOQ for stock labels)

For new brands, we recommend a 3-step approval:

  1. Digital mockup of the label (3-5 days)
  2. Physical label sample (2-3 weeks)
  3. Sample shawl with label sewn in (1 week)

Total time: 4-5 weeks from logo file to approved sample shawl.
